Ceteris celebrate 21 years of office space at Elmbank Mill

It is 21 years since Ceteris took over Elmbank Mill and turned it into a thriving hilloots business centre.

To mark the occasion, guests gathered at the historical building in Menstrie on Thursday, May 30, for an afternoon tea.

While the building used to be associated with its quality yarn, it now hosts 12 diverse businesses in a local but modern setting.

Ceteris bought the property in the 1990s after it survived the downturn in woollen manufacture as home to the Central Region Water Board.

The Georgian façade and windows on all sides make the former mill a unique property with stunning views of the Ochils and businesses have been enjoying it as a hub for 21 years.

Angela Ogilvie, operations director at Ceteris, said: “The historical beauty and peacefulness of Elmbank Mill greatly complements the other modern town centre buildings and bustling business park locations we have across Clackmannanshire.

“I can’t believe it’s been 21 years already and look forward to Elmbank Mill continuing as a valued piece of our property portfolio for many years to come.”

MP Luke Graham joined staff and tenants to celebrate and highlight what the building has to offer.

He said: “I would like to congratulate Ceteris, and all the tenants at Elmbank Mill, on reaching this milestone.

“The facilities are fantastic and play an important role in the thriving business community here in Clackmannanshire.

“I have also always been keen to support the use of our older buildings to provide new opportunities and the development of Elmbank Mill for this purpose is a prime example of how best to do that.

“I look forward to seeing the businesses continue to grow and develop over the coming years and I look forward to seeing them celebrate their next major milestone in a few years’ time.”

When the building was taken over, Ceteris quickly got around to renovating and refurbishing it with consultancy firm CALM Training the first tenants, moving in in June 1998.

Helen Stevenson, operations director at CALM Training, said: “Menstrie is important to us, our office-based staff are local, the business was launched in Menstrie and it has always been based here.

“Ceteris offer us safety, security and have been understanding of our changing needs throughout each stage of our development.

“I know that if there is a leak in the roof in the morning, it will be fixed in the afternoon. It’s a peace of mind that allows us to focus on the business.”
