Fun in a safe environment – the story of Jump-N-Joy

Jump-N-Joy is Scotland’s newest Trampoline Park and, luckily for us, it’s based right here in Clackmannanshire.

The venue is owned jointly by entrepreneurs and best friends Hasan Ertekin and Hasan Kavak. Considering where they are now, the Hasans bizarrely met almost 20 years ago when Hasan Ertekin got a job working in a clothes shop where Hasan Kavak was a qualified tailor!

However, they got on like a house on fire, have remained firm friends ever since and have been business partners for most of that time also.

This dynamic duo have run a number of businesses over the years, including the highly successful chain of Shake Bar milkshake bars. In fact, it was while talking to Shake Bar customers that the idea for a new Trampolines Park in central Scotland was born.

Hasan Ertekin explains “Our Shake Bar customers tend to be young families and teenagers and a number of them spoke of their frustrations of finding new, exciting things to do locally. I have a 9 year old son and so understood their concerns as I was also looking for safe and energetic indoors activities for him.”

“The more we researched the idea, the clearer our vision became – we were going to launch a unique trampoline park offering healthy, family time that encourages sport, burns calories and ensures a fun day out. Plus, for parents, a great way to ensure a good night’s sleep!”

Both men visited all existing trampoline parks in Scotland and a number in England to gather market research, compile ideas and spot areas for improvement. Then they had to find a venue…

Finding the right central location was a difficult task as it needed to have great transport links, be large enough for trampolines, a café, party room and reception area plus have plenty of free parking for visitors.

“We viewed a number of potential sites” says Hasan Ertekin, “However none of them were quite right. All that changed when we found the unit at Dumyat Business Park, owned by Ceteris. From the start everyone at Ceteris was very understanding of the size of our undertaking and wanted the trampoline park to open in Clackmannanshire as much as we did. They could see the benefits and how it would put the area firmly on the map”

“Angela Ogilvie of Ceteris in particular is more than a landlord, we consider her a friend now. As a small business owner, we have worked with a number of different landlords and Ceteris have been by far the most helpful.”

Angela Ogilvie, Operations Director at Ceteris takes up the story, “It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with the two Hasans, the vision and foresight that they had for what was essentially an empty 7,500 sq ft warehouse was inspiring and we tried to make their undertaking as easy as possible.  It’s been very exciting to watch the transformation from a blank canvas unit to Scotland’s newest state-of-the-art trampoline centre”

After a bit of a bumpy ride Jump-N-Joy, as the trampoline park was now named, opened to the public in February and was an instant success both in the local area and via thriving social media accounts.

Only three months later and visitor numbers to the trampoline park continue to grow.

It’s no wonder, they really do offer something for everyone – there are specific times for juniors (under 5’s), families and children with assisted support needs. Monday night fitness classes have been set-up whilst Fridays and Saturdays are Disco nights! Have a wee one with a birthday coming up, no problem book Jump-N-Joy’s party package from only £10 per child.

They are also building up links in the local communities by inviting all local schools to taster sessions, offering after-school clubs, investigating training and fitness tie-ins with both Alloa Athletic and Stirling Albion plus have plans to install a Community Notice Board in the reception area to help highlight local events, fundraising and family groups.

In the spirit of health, fitness and looking after yourself Jump-N-Joy are also associated with the Alloa Half Marathon as sponsors of the event in June.

“We want families in Stirling, Falkirk, Clackmannanshire and those from further afield to view Jump-N-Joy as a must-do and a must-visit.”, explains Hasan Kavak, “If they come once, I’m sure that they will be back again. Clackmannanshire also has the Ochils, Castle Campbell, Alloa and Clackmannan Towers plus loads of free parking. Make a day of it but make sure that you start at Jump-N-Joy!”

Further to all of this activity, look out for their Summer Club launching in time for the school summer holidays incorporating food and play for kids of all ages.

As for the future, they’re looking to a bright one, Hasan explains “We are always planning in advance. We are already thinking about our next step and researching venues for additional trampoline parks. This sector is new to us and we learn something new every day. We aim build on this knowledge and scale up our business.”

Asked to summarise, Jump-N-Joy in a just a few words, Hasan said “Fun in a safe environment”.

Thousands of happy visitors would certainly agree it is!
