Global business Amcor opens new office at Alloa Business Centre

Amcor are a global leader in developing and producing high-quality, responsible packaging for a variety of food, beverage, pharmaceutical, medical-device, home and personal-care products and have just opened their latest technical support office at the Alloa Business Centre.

With 200 Sites and over 35,000 employees in 43 Countries it is something of a coup for Ceteris to welcome Amcor to Clackmannanshire and the Alloa Business Centre.

You may not know it but you will almost certainly handle an Amcor product every day, from flexible packaging to capsules and overcaps for the Wine, Spirit and Whisky industry, Amcor manufacture packaging for innumerable well-known products.

Amcor have recently experienced a sustained period of growth in the UK and so realised that they needed a top notch technical support adviser to work with, and compliment, their local salesman, Barry Hamilton.

So, they turned to Gordon McAuley.  Gordon who is well-known in the industry, has over 25 years’ experience in similar roles, including some time at Alloa-based O-I Glass and Gordon joined Amcor in 2017.

He was immediately tasked with finding a suitable central Scotland location that would meet Amcor’s highest standards and facilitate their expansion plans.

Gordon explains, “We needed a flexible unit in a location that was within an hour from the major cities and provided access to the more rural parts of Scotland too. I actually viewed 12 properties across Scotland however Ceteris and the Alloa Business Centre stood out by quite some distance.”

“Their all-inclusive package is fantastic and I was especially impressed with the free access to meeting rooms and the reception services on offer. The reception team are there to handle calls, take messages and help organise meetings. It really feels like they are an extension of Amcor, as if they are part of our team.”

“From the initial enquiry through to the final agreement, Ceteris offered a first class service. They didn’t even blink an eye when I asked for three phase power in my office, a power source that is usually only found in industrial units!”

Amcor’s new office has been carefully developed in partnership with Ceteris into a hybrid of traditional office with meeting table and a scientific research and development laboratory!

For example, there are machines that test the composition and application of the screw caps and overcaps that they supply to the drinks industry across the UK and beyond. By running tests in Alloa, Gordon is also able to give assurances to their Whisky, Spirits and Wine customers that their millions of bottles across the world will have the most robust packaging possible.

Angela Ogilvie, Operations Director at Ceteris, takes up the story, “I am delighted that Amcor have chosen Clackmannanshire and in particular, the Alloa Business Centre as their new base. I’m really proud of the wide range of businesses we have at the Business Centre and to have such a global brand join us really adds to the diversity.  I must also congratulate our team who have done a great job in transforming the office to meet Amcor’s unique requirements”
