Glossary of Terms

Accounting -the process of identifying, measuring and communicating economic information.

ASDL - Assymetric Digital Subscriber Line (a permanent, high speed digital connection to the internet run from a standard analogue phone line).

Bookmark - Saved link to a website stored in an address book, allowing for easy access. Some browsers call these "Favourites" or "Hot Spots".

Benchmarking - Rating a company's products, services and practices against those of the leaders of the industry.

Capital - Funds, including owners' equity and loans, which are needed for the base of the business.

Cookie - A small programme sent by a Web site to your Browser. It is stored on your hard drive, and holds information about your visit to the site.
